A performance interpretation of two double self-portraits, taken approximately ten years apart. Back and Forth from 2011 (on the left) is a photoshopped image, a double self-portrait of Tierney. The photo on the right (title forthcoming) is a double self-portrait by Ash Barbu and Aylin Abbasi. The performance began with a conversational group reflection on the background context to the individual images. Abbasi, Barbu and Tierney wove together three individual stories about transition and friendship, sharing elements of biography and reflection. Next, they recreated a series of poses, echoing the images, while also altering the images and subsequently themselves. All photos taken by Armin Shohrati unless otherwise indicated.
